Luigi Sartori ci manda un esempio di lettera, già in inglese, molto civile, che ha mandato all’ambasciata nigeriana. Io ve la giro. con piccoli cambiamenti può essere mandata anche da altri.
Dear Sirs, sometimes ago I had the opportunity of working, as an engineer, in your beautiful Country, in the coal region around Enugu.I was really impressed by the civilized courtesy of the inhabitants, the friendly and cooperative attitude of colleagues, workers and of everybody I met all along my stay in Nigeria. Therefore, it’s with a feeling of frightened surprise mixed with incredulity that I heard about the young Safya Husseini Tungar- Tudu.
This young woman has recently been sentenced to death in a terrible and ignominous way for a crime she has not committed and , also if she had committed such a crime, there’s no human law which can submit an human being to such an ignominous and tribal sentence.
My surprise in such a story, grows out from from the great contrast between the gentle and civilized people I met in Nigeria and such a barbarity, denoting a poor level of civilized democracy and disrespect for the humal life, I had never imagined .
Facts like these will surely not help Nigeria, nor its image abroad.
